Mohela upgraded to a new platform sometime in 2024 and it breaks existing Monarch connections. Brief guide on fixing it.

When you search Mohela in the account selector, pick the second one. It is not the one marked as "Legacy". The correct one has a URL starting in authenticate2.mohela.studentaid.gov
, not starting in mohela.studentaid.gov
.
From here, do the connection. It'll ask for two things:
- Your DoB, which should be supplied precisely as MM-DD-YYYY as it states
- An account number. I was only able to find this via downloading one of the "payment due soon" documents from the inbox: https://myaccount.mohela.studentaid.gov/Inbox and then finding it at the top right. If it has a suffix like

, do not include that. For example, if your account is12345678-1
, just give12345678
to Monarch or technically whatever middleman is used for auth here, like Plaid or Fincity or w/e.
After that, things automatically sync fine for me. Only seems to pull in a few months worth of transactions and not the full history -- if you care about this, you can likely import the older ones from your old Mohela accounts via the "Download Balance History" and "Upload Balance History" mechanism within Monarch.
